- AI Marketing News• AI-Generated Ad: Toys ‘R’ Us used OpenAI’s Sora to create a short film about its mascot, Geoffrey the Giraffe (Here). According to the company, this is the first-ever brand commercial made with AI. Except that it’s not true. Coca-Cola did a fantastic ad a bunch of months ago (Here). • Anthropic: Claude 3.5 Sonnet is here (Here). • AI Use case: McDonald's is ending its partnership with IBM on automated order-taking without an expansion. But they still believe AI drive-thrus are in the future (Here). • ChatGPT: ChatGPT for Mac is now available to all (Here). • Apple & AI (1): Apple is paying OpenAI with exposure, not cash (Here). Apple and OpenAI are working together to bring ChatGPT to Apple's ecosystem. Neither company is paying the other right now. Google pays Apple billions to be the default search engine on iPhones. This is not the case with OpenAI and Apple. Apple gives OpenAI exposure to millions of users. Both companies benefit from this arrangement. In the future, this could change to a revenue-sharing deal. Apple is also talking with other LLM providers like Google to offer more options. Eventually, Apple may take a cut of any earnings from these tools. • Apple & AI (2): Apple is the first company accused of breaching the EU's DMA regulations. Regulators are also investigating whether Apple is hindering alternative iOS app stores, alongside violating steering rules (Here). As a consequence, they won’t roll out AI Tech in the EU market (Here). • Big Chatbot: Amazon is allegedly working on a chatGPT killer its own generative AI chatbot that will go head-to-head with ChatGPT. Code-named “Metis,” the platform could be released in September (Here). • Spotify & AI: announces an in-house creative agency, that tests generative AI voiceover ads (Here). Ilya Sutskever is launching Safe Superintelligence Inc., an AI startup focused on prioritizing safety over commercial pressures (Here). • A new competitor for OpenAI’ Sora: San Francisco-based startup Luma AI has unveiled Dream Machine, an advanced AI system that generates high-quality videos from basic text descriptions (Here). • AI-Powered Search: Genspark is the latest attempt at an AI-powered search engine (Here). • Slack: Slack’s guide to its own AI Features (Here). • A new App to curates top web content through a blend of AI and human recommendation: Goodreads co-founder Otis Chandler is launching Smashing, a new invite-only app that uses AI and community input to recommend online content, such as news articles, blog posts, social media, and podcasts. The app aims to connect users with their interests by uncovering hidden online gems (Here).
